Penetration Testing
Catch the gaps in your cybersecurity before they catch you
Penetration Testing
Gaps in security are often easy to overlook. These gaps in security leave your business vulnerable to attacks from bad actors; this is why it’s so important to catch the gaps before they are exploited by cyber criminals.
Data breaches and other cybersecurity incidents can be extremely costly and difficult to bounce back from. With a penetration test, you can discover where the gaps are in your security, so you can remediate them before they are used against you.
We offer both physical and technology-based penetration testing, so you can make sure all of your security bases are covered. No more guessing whether your business technology is secure. Feel confident knowing you’re fully informed.
What is a penetration test?
In a penetration test with SKB Cyber, one of our cybersecurity experts (acting as a white hat hacker) attempts to break into your business information systems with the intention of finding vulnerabilities in your business information systems.
This may sound like a scary concept, but here are some things to keep in mind:
White hat hacking is purely ethical—our team won’t actually access or look at anything we aren’t supposed to.
We will only perform actions and access information that you agree to before starting the test.
Everything will be outlined in your contract and SLA before beginning.
This is completely voluntary and can be terminated at any point in the process if you withdraw consent.
Once we’re done, we’ll give you a full report including our findings and recommended actions to take based on the test results.
Physical vs. Technology-Based Penetration Testing
Physical Penetration Testing
An SKB Cyber team member attempts to enter:
A physical office location
Physical server or technology rooms
Anywhere where sensitive information could be kept (ex: a manager’s office)
What are we trying to find?
How easy is it to access this information as a stranger in the environment?
Any stray usernames and passwords
Can we gain physical access to your critical system infrastructure?
And more
Technology-Based Penetration Testing
An SKB Cyber team member attempts to enter:
Your critical systems via tools on an outside device
Any internal device (ex: an employee workstation)
Business’s internal network
What are we trying to find?
How easy is it to access this information from outside the environment via technical means?
Are there any vulnerabilities present?
How many vulnerabilities exist?
And more

-
Physical penetration testing is all about attempting to access your physical location, like an office building or a data center. Here, our white hat hacker attempts to access business information systems from inside the business network or obtain information they can use to access the systems later (like a computer username and password).
In a technology-based penetration test, the white hat hacker is still trying to access sensitive business systems, but they are doing it from a different location only using devices like computers to access the systems.
Both are helpful in understanding how hackers could potentially access your information systems, and they can both provide helpful information about gaps in security.
-
Both are very helpful and can be used hand-in-hand with each other. However, different businesses have different risk factors to take into account. If you are looking to only do one kind of penetration test, our team will be happy to help you decide which one is best for your business needs.
-
At SKB Cyber, we place a heavy emphasis on building a relationship with you—we want to get to know you, and we want to truly integrate with your team.
